Actively Hiring

ShipDevs supports fast-moving teams by connecting them with vetted remote professionals across technical and operational roles.

We are looking for a skilled Cybersecurity Engineer who can take ownership of protecting applications, infrastructure, systems, and data from real-world security threats. You will work closely with engineering, DevOps, product, and operations teams to identify risks, strengthen security controls, and improve the overall security posture of modern digital products.

This role is for someone who can understand complex technical environments, detect vulnerabilities, respond to security issues, and build practical solutions that reduce risk without slowing teams down unnecessarily. You should be comfortable working with cloud infrastructure, applications, networks, access controls, monitoring tools, and incident response processes.

You will not only review security alerts. You will investigate threats, improve security processes, harden systems, support secure development practices, document risks, and help teams make better technical decisions. You will be expected to separate real security issues from noise, prioritize fixes, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This is a hands-on security engineering role. You should be able to assess systems, identify weaknesses, support remediation, improve detection capabilities, and help build security practices that work reliably in production environments.

The ideal candidate has strong cybersecurity experience, practical knowledge of cloud and application security, incident response skills, and the ability to protect serious products in real-world environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess, and help remediate security risks across applications, infrastructure, networks, and cloud environments.
  • Monitor security events, investigate alerts, and support incident response activities.
  • Implement and improve security controls, access policies, hardening standards, and vulnerability management processes.
  • Perform security reviews for applications, APIs, infrastructure changes, and deployment workflows.
  • Work with engineering teams to improve secure coding practices and reduce application security risks.
  • Support cloud security across AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar environments.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, risk reviews, and security configuration checks.
  • Improve logging, monitoring, alerting, and threat detection capabilities.
  • Document security findings, remediation plans, incident notes, and operational procedures.
  • Stay aligned with modern cybersecurity threats, best practices, and compliance expectations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong experience in cybersecurity, security engineering, or information security roles.
  • Good understanding of application security, cloud security, network security, and infrastructure security.
  • Experience with vulnerability management, security monitoring, incident response, and risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM platforms, vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection, firewalls, IDS/IPS, or similar.
  • Understanding of common web application risks such as OWASP Top 10, authentication issues, insecure APIs, and misconfigurations.
  • Experience reviewing cloud environments, IAM permissions, network rules, secrets management, and security configurations.
  • Ability to investigate security alerts, analyze logs, and identify suspicious activity.
  • Familiarity with secure development practices, code review support, and DevSecOps workflows.
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks, security policies, and audit preparation is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate security risks clearly and provide practical remediation guidance.

Experience Level

Mid to senior level, typically 3+ years in cybersecurity, security engineering, cloud security, or information security roles.
